Lord, help me to spend myself on what will last,
not on what will fade away one...
Wouldn’t it be dreadful if some day in our own world, at home, men start going wild inside, like the animals here, and still look like men, so that you’d never know which were which. (Prince Caspian) C. S. Lewis
The mark of Friendship is not that help will be given when the pinch comes (of course it will) but that, having been given, it makes no difference at all. -C. S. Lewis
Psalm 107:23-32 New International Version (NIV)
23 Some went out on the sea in ships;
they were merchants on the mighty waters.
24 They saw the works of the Lord,
his wonderful deeds in the deep.
25 For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
that lifted high the waves.
26 They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
in their peril their courage melted away.
27 They reeled and staggered like drunkards;
they...
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

Psalm 119:89-96 NIV
Your word, Lord, is eternal;
it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations;
you established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day,
for all things serve you. If your law had not been my delight,
I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have preserved my life. Save me, for I am yours;
I...
1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

“Charlie Brown got hit with a line-drive!”
“Does anyone here know abything about first-aid?”
“It’s probably not serious… Second or third-aid will do.”

There sure are a lot of these ‘instant’ products on the market....

Happiness is waking up, looking at the clock and finding that you still have two...

Linus: What’s wrong, Charlie Brown?
Charlie Brown: I just got terrible news. The teacher says we’re going on a field trip to an art museum; and I have to get an A on my report or I’ll fail the whole course. Why do we have to have all this pressure about grades, Linus?
Linus: Well, I think that the purpose of going to school is to get good grades so then you can go on to high...

Lord, I want to have peace in my life.
To be at peace with You, with others, and with myself.
Your Word says that comes from You.
Please give me Your gift of peace. Amen.
Jesus died in our place to give us His peace.
(Our Daily Bread January 31, 2012)
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13, 14 NIV)
I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time- waking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God- it changes me. (C. S. Lewis)
Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art…. It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival. (C. S. Lewis)
You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on...
If we let ourselves, we shall always be waiting for some distraction or other to end before we can really get down to our work. The only people who achieve much are those who want knowledge so badly that they seek it while the conditions are still unfavorable. Favorable conditions never come. (C. S. Lewis)
Charlie Brown: Life is just too much for me. I've been confused right from the day I was born. I think the whole trouble is that we're thrown into life too fast... we're not really prepared.
Linus: What did you want... a chance to warm up first?
“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for a bird to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.” (C. S. Lewis)
My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust? (C. S. Lewis)
Lucy: Why do you think we’re put here on earth Charlie Brown?
Charlie Brown: To make others happy.
Lucy: I don’t think I’m making anyone very happy. Of course nobody’s making me very happy either. SOMEBODY’S NOT DOING HIS JOB!
